Sherlock Comic-Con Recap

At long last Sherlock fans get some new footage! A whole scene no less. On Thursday at the Comic-Con Sherlock panel we got a new trailer for the Christmas Special! As many fans know, it takes place in Victorian London, the setting of the original Sherlock books. Here's Holmes and Watson (replete with mustache):

Sherlock co-creator Steven Moffat was on the panel along with producer Sue Vertue and Rupert Graves. Graves (Det. Lestrade) was the only member of the cast to make an appearance. But never fear, Benedict was there in spirit along with some pals.
Andrew Scott, who plays Moriarty (who may or may not be alive again after his presumed dead character turned up at the end of Season three), appeared alongside Cumberbatch and Mark Gatiss. Missing was Martin Freeman who is currently filming "Captain America: Civil War" (in a still undisclosed role).
The biggest news out of the panel is that the Christmas Special will be released in select movie theaters worldwide around the same time it's shown on television. Other tidbits to come out of the panel:
  • Moffat says the Victorian era show will still be the same Sherlock we know and love. "Ghosts" is the clue Moffat gave, but that was all he was saying
  • Moffat hasn't begun writing Season 4 yet, but promises it will "sucker punch you into emotional devastation."
  • From Digital Spy: "We've really developed and warmed up the relationship between Sherlock and Lestreade," Grave says. He doesn't think Lestrade expected to react as he did when he saw Sherlock alive, but his emotions got the better of him. "And you give him a big hug, and Sherlock doesn't know what the hell to do," Moffat recalls fondly.
